From the mouths of babes…
We used to be hip.
Pop culture references and the latest slang flowed from our lizz-ips. We were so hip we couldn’t see over our belts.
Now, our hip references consist of whatever Boo has been spilling lately.
I already told you about “Dere doo doh” (Here you go)
Now our speech and random exclaimations include Boo-isms, such as:
“Fuh-nee!!” used to acknowledge the humor in a situation
“Huggies” not the diaper, but an actual hug.
“Move!!” as in “Excuse me, kind sir/madam. I require access to the area you occupy, please”
“Happy Cakes” Used by Beck to describe a birthday cake, used by us to discribe pretty much any dessert.
The list is growing daily. Some are one-offs, others seem to be sticking around as he adds words at a dizzying pace. Often he’s just repeating the last couple of words we say, cute non-sequitors echoing from the back seat.
Keep ‘em coming, bright boy…
are sticking around.

Damn, it feels good to be a toddler…
I’ve read other blogs…yes, there are other blogs…that have related the interesting fashion choices that their kids have put forth. I thought it was funny and what not. I didn’t expect it to happen to Boo. Mommy keeps a close eye on his fashion sense and does a fine job of keeping him looking honkin’ cute.
I came home to find this awaiting me:
Now, you can’t see that he’s in a cute t-shirt and his diapers, but he is and that whole combo maybe lost on you, dear reader. Taken together…priceless. He’s also wearing daddy’s hat, a left over from my Navy days. For me, that makes it uber-cute.

Art imitates life….
When Beck hands you something, sometimes you get a polite “there you go”. This of course goes through the cute-o-matic and comes out as, “Dere do doh…”.
Mommy and I say it to each other, jokingly.
Saturday, I was teaching class and after adjusting a block or stance I realized I was saying, “Dere do doh…”. Lucky all my students are parents, huh?

Boo at the Stockyards…
It’s rodeo time here in Texas. I guess it always is, really. But this is a big one in Fort Worth.
We drove in and loaded our nap-deprived tot in the car. He then proceeded to not nap in the car, as well. Oy.
We walked in the gates and say….horsies!!
We accidentally mentioned the fact that there was an equine potential on Saturday morning. Beck reminded us all day.
We decided to head on into the grounds, since the line of squalling kids waiting for the pony ride was a mile long. Only to run into the petting zoo. This was not to be missed. Llamas!! They had Llama…Lamae…anyhoo, since we’ve been reading, “Is your momma a llama” this was a must see.
The only thing he didn’t feed was daddy. And woe to the grown-up that gets in his way…
Later, we had a high-speed impact with some of the best things in life, barbecue and chocolate-covered cheesecake!!!
Belly full of sweets and grease, we hit the midway for the very first carnival ride. I fully expected Beck to love it or dissolve into a crying mess. Survey says….?
I take issue with the carny rules, though. Beck can tear it up, as above. He can chase down “Them Duke Boys” in the air, no less…
But was “too small” to ride the choo-choo.
Like that rattle trap is the bullet train. Beck crawls faster than that thing moved. Yet, he was denied the pleasure of cruising in “Thomas” by carny trash.
I was gonna get all, “excuse me sir, allow me to diagram the thrust co-efficient and aerodynamic frosnels…” on him. But we were rapidly on our way to this:
Which rapidly turned to this, after we got on the shuttle:
January Wrapup
We went from cold to warm, weather-wise. Beck is more and more able to tell us about it!
Words, words and more words…and “huggies”!
