Sno Cones From God…
It started secularly enough. My new favorite person (MNFP) and I decided to go visit her grandmother in Mineral Wells and since there happens to be a lake there it seemed as though a picnic and some swimming were in order. There we were frolicking innocently enough when we noticed that a stage, of sorts, was being set up. This was followed by an announcement that there would be a puppet show with music and Sno Cones for all. Well, as you can imagine these two moms thought they had struck gold. What more could you want out of trip to the lake with your toddlers. Turns out that what you might want is for the God part to be left out of the show. Yep, it turns out that this production was being hosted by a youth ministry group who decided that a state park would be the perfect venue for preaching. We stayed, listened to the music ( the puppets had amazing voices), danced for a while and then waited patiently for our Sno Cones. At the end of the day the kids had a great time and although I’m a little offended by the use of a state park to put on this sort of production the Sno Cones made it all worth it.
Thanks God!!

Cheap entertainment…on many levels
Dallas has a few water parks built in the local neighborhood parks. Not the big slide variety, just a spot with various devices to hose down young’uns of all ages. Loe discovered one, and another since. They’re great fun. Beck is sometimes a little freaked by all the kids running and splashing, but over comes it pretty quickly. He’s got a whole water fetish and maybe it’s just he doesn’t know where to begin.
Behold, the Charles Atlas of babies…
After getting all wet, he can step over to the normal playground for good natured hijinks. Sometimes, to the fright and delight of his papa…

Lakes and snakes…
Chalk one up for the “should’ve kept my pie hole shut” camp.
We trekked out to Cleburne State Park to check out the lake there. It’s only about an hour drive. $6 bucks got us in and we found an empty RV site down by the water. The water is pretty clean and the entry was easy. We “set up camp” and Molly hit the water ahead of us.
The water was nice, but I think out mojo was lost when Loe asked me, “Is there any chance there are snakes around?” Not two minutes after I poo-poo’d the thought, the folks in the next campground came walking by with a 3 foot piece of “shut yo mouth”.
We enjoyed a nice dry picnic after that…

Tales from the Trailer Park Front yard…
After much deliberation, we decided to put in a pool. Hell, the Clampetts had one. Why not us? Luckily, we have the kinda money that lets us spare no expense. We even got a cover to help keep the bugs out. Yep, we’s uptown now…
Okay…maybe it’s not a concrete pond. Dammit, it’s a rite of parental passage to get a kiddie pool. We’re living the American dream!

Blast from the past…
This is a pic from last year. I stumbled across it and thought I’d post it, since swimming season is upon us…
